In 2021, I became a cancer survivor & recovering alcoholic amid a global pandemic. I lost both my grandmothers within 3 weeks of each other and a cousin I adored, shortly after. The country was in lockdown; I was sick, bald and badly burned from radiation. My last surgeries were cancelled, which in my eyes were my final steps to freedom, and I felt desperate to close this chapter. This was an incredibly difficult time in my life, so difficult, that I went into survival mode doing whatever it took to get through. I leaned HARD on alcohol, and I almost let it destroy me. This is my story.
